Run Baby, Run!!! take 2!

Yesterday was the Independent Schools Cross Country meet down in Vancouver.

Maddy came in high enough last week to be able to go so bright and early I was on the road with a truck full of very excited 8 year old girls.

I just have to say - 8 year old girls are very loud - even when it is very early in the morning.  

I'm just saying....

It has been pointed out to me that it has been 2 weeks since I updated.

Sorry about that.

So, just for you....a new post!  

*grin*

Last Thursday was the local cross country meet for the primary kids and I was thrilled that this year Maddy wanted to run in it.  

Running really isn't her thing.  

She tries but isn't real fast like some of the other kids are.

The first year she ran it was in kindergarden and she came in 71st.

She wasn't thrilled with that placing to say the least.

Took the next year off...still was nursing a bit of a grudge against the 70 girls who came in ahead of her I think!

Grade 2 she sucked it up and came in 43!!

Much better in her mind...

This year her goal was to beat her 43rd place record!  Even 42 would have been fine except....

Just before they left for the meet, the coach told the grade 3s that if they wanted to go to the Independant Schools meet next week they had to finish above #40!

Yikes!

Now the pressure was on!

Anyways....here come the pictures....then the results....

Last night I was having one of those "what the heck do I make for dinner" days.

Couldn't come up with an idea to save my life.

Amanda came to my rescue!  

Here is dinner....

It was so yummy and so fast and easy to make.

She has lots of amazing food on her blog.  You should check it out, she take pretty pictures of all of her food so you know what it is supposed to look like!

Just don't go there when you are hungry!  

I'm just saying....

Oh My!

This is a dangerous thing for me to have discovered....

Chocolate cake in a mug.....

You can go from the "I feel like chocolate cake" to having it made and in your hand in under 5 mins.

Yes, its true...

And its dangerous!

Here comes the recipe!

 5-minute Chocolate Mug Cake
Recipe

Ingredients
1 - Coffee Mug (mug, not cup)
4 - tablespoons flour......(that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 - tablespoons sugar
2 - tablespoons baking cocoa
1 - egg
3 - tablespoons milk
3 - tablespoons oil
3 - tablespoons chocolate chips
Small splash of vanilla extract

Directions
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix
thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Eat!

Okay, I will admit the texture is a little weird but if you dig down to where the chocolate chips are its warm and chocolaty and it is totally satisfying a craving right now so its all good.  

Coffee in one mug and chocolate cake in another mug....

All is good in my world right now!!

Getting Even Closer!

Made some more progress on the tutu.

Still have a long way to go but I at least got it to the point where she could try it on.

I held my breath because if it didn't fit, there was no way to alter it so it would have become Madeline's and I would have had to start over!  Yikes!

Here is it at this point.  Still have to attach the basque and make the plate.  And I have to tack the whole thing but this gives you an idea anyways....

Well, it looks like this now...

  

It will be a classical tutu when it is done.  I have more hours sunk into this thing at this point then  I care to even think about.  Still have many, many more to go too.  

To get to this point I had to hand pleat 12 meters of netting in 1/4 inch pleats.  That took a very, very long time!  Next step is sewing the individual layers together - by hand of course.  

I just hope it stays UP when it is done!  

Nothing worse then a saggy tutu!
